Email your MP:
it's time for strong car pollution caps
Petrol is a dirty, polluting, expensive, fossil fuel - and with every year that passes, our reliance on fossil fuelled cars is costing Australians billions.
Over the past 7 years, governments have looked at legislating fuel efficiency standards but inaction has cost Australians dearly, with over $10.1 billion in avoidable petrol costs - and transport emissions continuing to rise.
In April, Transport Minister Catherine King announced there would be legislation for a fuel efficiency standard by the end of this year - but now she is refusing to confirm that timeline.
Will you email your MP and ask when the government will deliver cleaner, cheaper to run vehicles for all?

Tips for writing an impactful email
You can send our pre-filled message, or write your own.
Just remember these 3 things:
1. Keep it polite
We're asking Minister King to implement strong legislation that will make clean transport more accessible for all Australians. The government is not the enemy, so ask nicely and please keep it respectful.
2. Be clear
We need our Ministers to know: both the climate and our budgets are suffering from a lack of clean car standards. It is time to stand up our environment and implement strong standards.
3. Spell out the risks
Strong fuel efficiency standards would mean cleaner and more affordable transport for all Australians but weak standards will mean our country continues to be a dumping ground for expensive, polluting technology.
