Beef Industry Ratings
Australia is a global deforestation hotspot, driven primarily by the beef industry. About every two minutes, a large football field-sized area of forest and bushland is bulldozed, putting Australia alongside places like the Amazon, Congo and Borneo on the scale of destruction.
Greenpeace has assessed how ten of Australia’s largest beef buyers stack up against a conversion and deforestation-free target by 2025.

Together, we convinced Woolies!
Australia’s largest supermarket chain has listened to your demands! From the end of 2025, Woolworths will only sell deforestation-free beef in its stores.
Our community sent thousands of emails to Woolworths this year demanding they make a strong commitment. Because of this collective action, one of the biggest buyers of beef in the country is going deforestation-free. This will have a huge impact on our native wildlife and forests.
Let’s keep the momentum going! Send an email now to the other beef buyers, telling them to follow Woolworths’ lead.
