On the same day that Equinor’s poor safety record was exposed, the Norwegian oil giant has chosen to submit a plan to drill for oil in the Great Australian Bight - a proposal that would be illegal in Norway.

The Great Australian Bight is where majestic whales go every year to feed, play and raise their young. It has the highest concentration of dolphins anywhere in the world. And 85% of the animal, fish and plant species in the Bight aren’t found anywhere else.

A place this important needs permanent protection from risky deepwater oil drilling.

A federal election is just weeks away and this needs to be an election issue. Tell your local MP to stand up against oil drilling now.

In the last three and a half years, Equinor has had more than 50 safety incidents – including 10 that resulted in chemical, oil or gas leaks. Our Great Australian Bight is too precious to risk to an oil spill.

Our politicians are elected to represent us. They need to know what we care about, and it's their duty to make sure our concerns are heard by the rest of their party. Our Government has the power to permanently protect the Bight from dangerous oil drilling.
Let’s make sure they know that's what we want.

A SPILL IN THE BIGHT WOULD BE DEVASTATING

EQUINOR'S OWN DOCUMENTS SHOW A SPILL FROM ITS PROPOSED DRILLING SITE COULD WASH UP ANYWHERE FROM WESTERN AUSTRALIA TO SYDNEY.

Imagine Bondi, Bells Beach, Wine Glass Bay, Kangaroo Island or Esperance smothered in toxic black oil. That same oil would suffocate the whales, dolphins and fish of the Bight, causing death and irreversible harm. But the Australian Government has the power to stop this from happening and permanently protect the Bight from oil drilling.
